•CONTACT METHOD: Plurk (
draconic) or AIM (sceadugesceaft)
•THREAD-JACKING: Go for it!
•FOURTH WALLING / CANON PUNCTURE: Given that Nikola Tesla is a historical figure of some note, people are more than welcome as being yes that Nikola Tesla. I would rather avoid having it mentioned that he's fictional, on the other hand, mostly to avoid the headache involved.
•BACKTAGGING: Absolutely! I tend to be a somewhat slower tagger and backtags are more than welcome
•AVOIDED TOPICS: Nothing I can think of; if for whatever reason something comes up or starts squicking me real bad I'll mention it
•PREFERRED GENDER PRONOUN: she/hers, etc
IC CHARACTERISTICS:
•CURRENT CANON POINT: Sanctuary for None, part 2 (4x13)
•PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Tesla comes in at 5'11", with a build that could best being called sort of angular, and medium brown hair that's usually kept swept back. Beyond that, however, he mostly tends to stand out thanks to his habit of wearing (presumably expensive) suits; on the few occasions where he doesn't, his dress tends towards the professorial. When he's fully vamped out, his teeth sharpen into fangs, he grows nasty talons on each finger and his eyes go pretty much completely black.
Over on the more physical side of things, he tends to be inclined to speak with his hands, especially as he gets either more invested in a topic or more worked up and most of his emotions are similarly clear on his face - although he locks up hard on both when he's feeling out of sorts, and can be prone to emotionally withdrawing a little when he's in the grips of depression or anything reasonably similar. Additionally, while he is not natively an English speaker, he's lost the accent of his homeland at some point over the last century and now sounds more or less like what you might expect for someone who's been bouncing across various part of the primarily-English speaking world. When he has his fangs out they do affect his voice, mostly tended to make it sound gruffer, for lack of a better word. (voice clips here for normal Tesla, and here for vamped out Tesla)
Finally, while his brand of vampirism does not involve having been or currently being dead, it's possible that he may smell slightly unusual to those with the ability to tell such things, although none of the abnormals with enhanced senses of smell mention anything. He may also smell a bit of (high quality) wine, especially when he has a problem that he's working on, although he can't actually get drunk.
•DEMEANOR: Arrogant, self-assured, and generally snarky, although he's not without the capability of being charming. But for the most part, he's not exactly the easiest of people to get along with and seems to be perfectly okay with this. He is a decent enough person underneath all that, though. It just takes a fair bit of doing to see it, sometimes.
•ABILITIES: Vampiric biology: As a result of his vampiric nature, Tesla is both stronger and much agile than your average person, and is possessed of a set of retractable talons as well (similarly retractable) fangs. He is also limited by next-to-none of the traditional vampiric weaknesses: stakes, silver bullets and holy water have no effect on him and he's seen walking around in full daylight without even the slightest problem.
Vampiric healing: Like all vampires of Sanctuary, Tesla has a very powerful and fast-acting healing factor - to the point that shooting him does little more than momentarily slow him in down, and he's shown to be able to recover from falls that would normally kill a person in a matter of minutes at most. He's also unaffected by at least radiation poisoning and may also be similarly unaffected by other sorts of poison.
Biomagnetism: Pretty much exactly what sounds like. For reasons that may have to do with the science that made Tesla a vampire, he's capable of generating and manipulating electromagnetic fields - while he has sometimes put this to use as a sort of lesser version of something like, say, Magneto's ability he also has control enough to undo snaps like might be found on clothes or fiddle with the data on a computer drive.
Polyglot: Historically, Tesla was capable of speaking eight langauges (Serbo-Croatian, Czech, English, French, Hungarian, German, Italian, and Latin) and it's not unreasonable to assume that this Tesla can as well; he's also shown to have some familiarity with the language of the ancient vampires.
•MEDICAL INFORMATION: At the most basic level, Tesla is essentially something like a hybrid of human and vampire, and this is quite probably visible even down to his DNA. That said, any medicine that would work on a normal person would probably work on him to some degree. On the other hand, barring extremely unusual circumstances, his native healing factor is probably going to keep him out of the infirmary; if he does end up in the infirmary, letting his own healing do its thing might well be the best answer.
He's also keeping his need to drink blood under control with a specialized treatment, but he should be able to synthesize what he needs for that particular serum on his own.
•CABIN INFORMATION: For the most part, Tesla's room looks very much like part of the Old City Sanctuary - one part of the room looks very much like one of the guest rooms found there, all over hardwood surfaces with a bed that could probably fit two people in a pinch but only if they were willing to be particularly friendly. The other part of the room is pretty much given over to a large lab/work area - while there are chairs and such that can be put to use if someone is visiting, it's equally clear that this is not exactly the sort of thing that he's used to accommodating for.
The bathroom is of a similar vein to the room itself, and is one of those ones that's hiding a cabinet behind the mirror over the sink.
As of April 2016, there's also an enclosure for his swamp dragon off to one side.
•OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS: There's not a lot that can genuinely offend Tesla. That said, he tends to get most worked up about Edison (whom he has yet to forgive), people usurping his plans, and people using his work for things or in ways he hadn't meant for it to be used. (And I am all for these topics coming up, if they happen to do so.)
IC PERMISSIONS:
•MENTAL: Tesla's not entirely human, but other than that has no particular defenses. I'd appreciate a heads up on mind control, though.
•MIMICRY: Sure! But he's not going to be too happy about it, if he finds out.
•VIOLENCE: Go for it! But note also, he's going to be hard to take down by violence alone, if that's the intent.
•MAGIC: Sure!
•DEBATE: Absolutely!
•OTHER / NOTES: Further notes on Sanctuary vampires and what they can do
